Steve W. Schroeder - Manager
PR Executive / Strategic Marketing

Steve brings strong marketing strategy knowledge, public relations expertise and extensive management experience to Synergy Communications. Steve is a graduate of the Dale Carnegie Training courses and can definitely, “Win Friends and Influence People.” He attended Cal Poly School of Business and specialized in Marketing and Business Development. After years of making other companies successful he tapped his own entrepreneurial spirit and co-founded Synergy Communications with services specializing in marketing and public relations. His philosophy is that everything about marketing and PR starts with the consumer and MUST produce results. Business has a mandate: get results or go out of business. His focus is “MPR” (Marketing Public Relations) a unique marketing and public relations strategy that gets results. He has extensive working knowledge of human relations, the sales process and client care management. Among his many success stories include Hot August Nights, Professional Bull Riders (PBR), Nevada State Fair, National Council of Juvenile and Family Court Judges, The City of Reno, The City of Sparks Centennial Celebration, Moms on the Run, Children's Cancer Awareness and the Reno Rodeo, “The Wildest, Richest Rodeo in the West,” the third largest rodeo in the world. Through his aggressive marketing/PR strategies the 2005 Reno Rodeo received over $8 million in free exposure. His client received over 300 news stories on television and radio, more than 7200 column inches of print, over 10,000 free mentions in the media and over 2000 web sites picked up his Internet publicity campaign for links and stories. Clients have appeared on CNN Headline News, MSNBC, CBS, ABC, NBC, FOX, Good Morning America, ESPN, ESPN2, OLN, Speed Channel, Discovery Channel, The Learning Channel, Fox Sports Net, NY Times, LA Times and many other national, regional and local media outlets. He is an expert in Cause Marketing, Public Relations, Event Marketing, Non-Profit Marketing and PR, Media Relationship Development, Brand Management, Image Marketing, Sponsorship Development, Positioning, Strategic PR Consulting, Exit Strategy Marketing, Public Relations and Targeted Media Development. Steve is also the Producer of a weekly television show, “Real Estate Showcase of Northern Nevada,” airing on KOLO TV News Channel 8, Charter Cable and the Internet.  He and his wife have 4 children and live in Sparks, Nevada.

Advertising Executive / Strategic Marketing


Steve brings sound marketing strategy and advertising campaign management expertise to Synergy Communications.  Born and raised in San Jose, California, Steve attended San Jose State University Business School (in the heart of the Silicon Valley) where he received a Degree in Business Marketing and Advertising.  He founded Geiger Unlimited – Marketing, Advertising and Public Relations in 1996, with a focus to provide quality “Push” and “Pull” advertising and public relations services backed by sound marketing strategy. 
In 2001, after years of success, he co-founded Synergy Communications with a goal to take his broad experience to the next level and develop a team to produce greater results. Trained and mentored by some of the best marketers in the world, such as the founder of "The Pet Rock" and the original copywriters of the "Marlboro Man," "Tide" and United Airlines campaigns, Steve prides himself in his "Addy" award-winning graphic design work and skilled copywriting style.  Working with a variety of clients from retail to high-tech, Steve serves as a Marketing Director to many organizations and businesses and boasts many success stories of his clients.  One of them, Innovative CAD Software, Inc., through Steve’s marketing direction, grew from an idea for a software product to one of the top five selling software companies of its worldwide industry before it was acquired by an Australian software firm for nearly $2 Million.  Steve helped grow his client Wallpaper Etc., Inc. from inception to profitability in less than one year with his powerful, image and vision based marketing strategy techniques.  

Bill Jeppesen
PR Executive

Bill Jeppesen develops PR programs and does press relations for Synergy Communication's portfolio of clients.  With more than 15 years of experience in high technology PR, Bill has the knowledge and first-hand experience necessary to build and deliver effective communications programs.  He has many personal relationships with reporters and editors at major high-tech and computer trade publications.  Before launching his own PR consultancy, Effective PR, Inc. in July 1997, Bill held senior manager positions and has been responsible for corporate and divisional PR programs at Novell, Sun and Madge Networks.  Prior to embarking on a career in corporate public relations, Bill worked his way up the ranks to senior account representative working for Silicon Valley's premier high tech agency, Franson and Associates.  From his first job sorting press clippings to his latest work advising senior executives on Public Relations programs and activities for clients ranging from The ATM Forum to Cisco Systems, Bill has experience in nearly all areas of high technology PR, including: Metro IP, RPR, CDN and Internet streaming, IP switching and classification, ATM networking and integration, Ethernet and Token Ring switching, WAN access, Voice/Video LAN integration, network management, software and chip-level applications. He is a native Californian and holds a master's degree in business administration and a bachelor's degree in public relations from San Jose State University.  In addition to his public relations work, Bill is a co-founder of AutoMall.com™, an Internet business specializing in online automotive information, where he is responsible for operations, marketing and sales.

Janice Kelley
PR Executive / Copywriter

Janice Kelley encourages her clients to play, tell stories and use their imagination as often as possible.

One voice at a time, one story at a time, Janice draws on her extensive experience within the community to help organizations build awareness for their mission and sustain long-term growth.

As a writer, Janice has profiled many industry and civic leaders in the Sacramento region. She has described community issues and trends in publications such as the Sacramento Bee, Comstock’s Business, Western City and Discover Magazine. Janice also interviewed arts agencies statewide to create a comprehensive report of their successes using the arts as an engine for economic development and to build community.

Her first-hand experience as a consultant addressing a cross section of community-based organizations’ issues and challenges is a great benefit for clients as they plan and implement marketing and communications programs.

Janice leads a series of staff development programs under the title of  “Peak Performance Tools” to improve creative thinking skills, build supportive teams and cope with change in the workplace. Through both American River and Sierra Colleges, she offers a class giving students tips on how to become a successful working writer and develop their writer’s voice.

Tim Dunn
Graphic Design

Tim Dunn has quickly emerged as one of the most diverse graphic designers from the San Francisco Bay Area. He is a 1988 graduate of the Academy of Art in San Francisco, where he earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts with honors of distinction.

Upon completion of his studies, Dunn had worked for design agencies in Palo Alto and South San Francisco where he further developed his skills in computer-aided design, electronic photo imaging and pre-press preparation.

In 1999 he founded DUNN@DUNN Graphic Design and has successfully produced design solutions for client's such as Roche Bioscience, Peninsula Open Space Trust, Stanford University,  Palo Alto Medical Foundation, Armadillo Willy’s BBQ Restaurants and Lamplighters Music Theatre.

Diversity and detail have been major key components in the success of his career. From International corporations to local merchants, Dunn identifies with the clients needs effectively, carry's out the design process efficiently and maintains extreme quality control on every project he is involved in.

Nick Topolos
Graphic Design

Nick has been working with the Internet since 1993.  Before starting his own business, he worked at both Macy's and The Gap, where among other duties he helped launch both their corporate intranet and Internet sites.

He co-founded Evolve Design in 1995 and worked with major corporations like Gap, WalMart, and WebMD, as well as creating effective graphic design solutions for non-profit focused organizations including Grassroots.com, Greenbiz.com, NGLTF, New Leaf, OrcaFree.com, and Under One Roof.

In whatever he has done, Nick has always strived to provide high-quality visual and information design and has established a reputation for delivering user-centered, architected projects on budget and on time-every time.

Steve Voisin
Creative Director / Interactive Media

Mr. Voisin, brings many years of experience in the interactive and multimedia design field from some of the largest media and technology corporations in the nation including: Cnet, Seagate, and AOL Time Warner. Graduating from San Francisco State's Multimedia Studies program, Steve Voisin has a BA in Human Communications and Speech, with an emphasis in interactive communications / multimedia.

Steve has been working on both corporate as well as educational interactive projects, providing cutting edge solutions in web video broadcasting, animation, and interactive web design.

Laura Alexander
Photographer

Laura has over seventeen years experience in both film and digital photography. Her passion for people, photography and the arts combine to create beautiful images. Laura’s attention to detail makes her subjects look their best, whether she is creating a timeless portrait or showcasing products for presentation. She specializes in portraits, architectural and commercial photography. Her work has been featured in several catalogues, brochures, calendars and books. Laura holds a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration and Human Resource Management from California State University, Sacramento.
