The Reno City Council corrected a 56-year old street name spelling error Wednesday. In 1948 the city honored former City Councilman and first present of the Reno Rodeo Association Charles Sadleir by naming a street after him. However the sign for the street that is located west off of Wells Avenue and one street north of Interstate 80, has been incorrectly spelled "Sadlier Way" since then.

The spelling error was brought to the attention of the Regional Street Naming Committee by Reno Gazette Journal Columnist Guy Clifton.

The Council also approved renaming a portion of Green Acres Drive in honor of World War II veteran William Syler who served in the Pacific Theater of War, was a member of the Nevada National Guard and a lifelong resident of the city.

The request was brought before the Regional Street Naming Committee by City of Reno employee Matthew Harney. He suggested the name change to avoid the possibility of emergency response problems that might occur since Green Acres Drive has been divided by the construction of U.S. Highway 395. Syler Court is located east of Country Estates Circle and is one street north of West Huffaker Lane.
